The ArcelorMittal group is the world’s leading steel and mining company, with around 232,000 employees in more than 60 countries. ArcelorMittal is a leader in all major global steel markets, including automotive, construction, household appliances and packaging, with leading R&D and technology.

The company has a presence in 20 emerging and mature countries. Around 38% of its steel outputs are produced in the Americas, 46% in Europe and 16% in other countries such as Kazakhstan, South Africa and Ukraine.

Role in BIOCON-CO₂

ArcelorMittal will lead WP7, validating the industrial applicability of the commodities obtained through the BIOCON-CO₂ methodology. ArcelorMittal will consequently provide information on the industrial gas (composition, flows, etc.) and energy management of its Gent plant. It is also involved in data collection of gas composition (blast furnace gas, converter gas, Coke oven gas) for the database of gas compositions, integrating statistics of gaseous effluents from steel mill, cement and electrical industries, and will supply steel gas as feedstock for the pilot installation.
