Institute Overview

With approximately 30 locations around the world, 6,000 staff members and 9,000 students, Wageningen University & Research (WUR) is a world leader in the bio-based economy domain. Within WUR, Wageningen Food and Biobased Research (WFBR) is the institute partner in BIOCON-CO2. It focuses on developing chemicals, materials, fuels & energy from renewable resources instead of fossil resources. It develops production processes, bio-based materials, and sustainable biomass valorisation strategies that aim to transform the current economy into a sustainable bioeconomy. Specifically, WUR turns both primary crops and residues from the food industry, agriculture and natural infrastructure into marketable products and energy: human food, animal feed, chemicals, materials, fuels, power and heat.

Role in BIOCON-CO2
